December 29th, 2011

Dear Damen Robert,

Christmas was just a few days ago, and 2012 is right around the corner. This year has flashed by and you have gotten bigger and bigger in what seems like days. Let me start by telling you about our Christmas morning.

So about ten in the morning we stumbled out of bed (Thank you Grandma and Papa.) We made it downstairs and saw all the presents under the tree, the sweet power wheels jeep waiting for you, and more importantly the skittles on the couch in front of your stocking. After ingesting the most candy you've ever had in one day in about five seconds, we persuaded you to rip open some of the billion presents. You were interested in it, but more interested in playing with the ones previously opened. Being a good sport and making sure mommy and daddy were happy, you said things like "OH CUTE" and "I love!" about your new pajamas and the boring stuff. Now let me tell you I've been dreading this holiday for two months. My brain had been reeling about having a Christmas without your grandpa, and how sad I would be. Let me tell you this, watching your smiling face when you opened up your new toys and your happiness and laughter let nothing creep into my mind but pure joy. I love you so much Damen, I want to thank you for that.

Right now you are sitting behind me on the couch with milk dripping down your face. Your fruit loops are all over the place, and Diego is on repeat. This has been quite a year. We've had our ups and downs, but I believe that this next year will be a GREAT one. I look forward to watching you grow more and more, and our silly and crazy adventures every day.

I love you!!!

Mom
